He looked so small lying on the bed, with none of his family by his side to mourn, to be with him while he breathed his last.
But the sight of the fragile coccoon of his lifeless body, feeble and diminutive with a white cloth draped over him, was terrible yet strangely bewitching, i could not avert my eyes.
Suddenly the ward felt so stark, bleak and lonely, and it broke my heart just that much more. and i started crying for a man whom i did not know, not even his name. Part of me still wishes that i did.

Will we ever be ready to cope with death? In all honesty, i loathe the day when i'm desensitised and numb, unaffected by my patient's passing; the inevitable result of witnessing too many deaths too often. If it isn't inevitable, then it seems almost obligatory.

I'm so tired that weekends are all i live for nowadays.

caught the wimbledon finals yesterday, and found myself wondering why the heck i didn't start watching much earlier. distracted by the wc maybe, but a more obvious reason would be that i don't even have cable. but i digress. roger federer is superb! his footwork is simply amazing, and he looks graceful yet commanding and powerful on court. i'll admit i love wimbledon because it's all snobbery pishposh, the umpire and ballkids are decked out in chic preppy ralph lauren, and trivia, i really like the "puck" sound the ball makes. very satisfying. and compared to soccer, it's alot less animalistic and there's no foul play, and the players are much more gracious, they don't spit everywhere and they look less sweaty. sweaty men somehow just don't do it for me.

i wish i could play tennis to save my life.

anyways
isn't she lovely

del all radiant and pretty at her vintage/retro themed party! it's been 8 years and we can still stand each other! from the awkward secondary school days when we were young and silly and we looked like fug, the wild tumultuous jc days, to racy, roaring adulthood: we're older and wiser but no less silly and well, dare i say, a little less unsightly. and we'll be friends till we've gone grey and lost all our teeth and gone off our rockers. happy 21st darling!

my favourite photo of the night: mel getting frisky with marilyn

and all of us

The boys watch the girls while the girls watch the boys who watch the girls go by
Eye to eye, they solemnly convene to make the scene
Which is the name of the game, watch a guy watch a dame on any street in town
Up and down and over and across, romance is boss
