hurrah we're going for the franz ferdinand gig, that's where my angpow earnings are going to. and maybe kings of convenience with tania, if i've enough left to spare haha.

yday, the eve of cny eve, we headed for chinatown! now i really like chinatown when it's all festive and stuff but lor hated it so bad during last yr's cny that in a fit of exasperation he rammed his car against a pillar. we didn't want him to resort to anything more drastic this year but we took that risk anyhow. and it pays to take risks sometimes because well, we had fun!

we saw stars! many many. fann wong zoe tay ann kok michelle chia (lor was perving on her) edmund cheng xiangyun mark lee blahblah and we saw mich chong and jeff wang up so close i could've grabbed jeff wang's ass. he's actually not bads.

at the bazaar we saw lucky red underwear! hb...you like???

we saw traces of cny decor on the sri mariamman temple. singapore is truly a multiracial society.

nothing puts a smile on my face and a spring in my step the way freebies can. today us med girls went crazy over the free (is dubious) jan issues of elle and style magazines laid out on this bench outside the lt, prompting a mini frenzy. the more entrepreneurial among us even discussed selling some on auctions. namely me and jayne. then after school i went to HSBC to get my free ben and jerry's, ohboy so yummy. i'm gonna try and get another one tmr. freeloader is me.

and i've been meaning to rant about this, after the VS fashion show on monday, i think the question on everyone's lips is: how the hell do they look that good! the models were so hot they even turned me on some. legs that stretch on forever, gorgeous face, the perfect greek goddess bronzed tan, nice boobies, flat tummy, abs, no ounce of fat on their bodies whatsoever. HOW. i want to know how!

there was a world class pbl lecture by a certain garybutler slated for this afternoon, apparently he's some head honcho in med academics, like he was the founder of pbl or smth to that effect. what a load of bullcrap. of course i skipped it.
instead we spent the afternoon watching memoirs of a geisha. and as expected it was a bit, just a bit painful and trying having to listen to the faltering english of the entire cast for the whole 2 hours and 20 minutes, save for michelle yeoh. but that said, zhang ziyi has improved by leaps and bounds from her the soup is too salty days. and i still like ken watanabe v much, he has this regal aura about him.
my sentiments about the movie ranged from alright to not bad. nothing very spectacular though. not really all it was hyped up to be. personally i felt that much of the artistic imagery and poetry of the book was lost in this adaptation. but it did make me pine for japan again, there's a certain fairy tale like quality of viewing cherry blossoms, beautiful yet devastating in their ephemerality, i do think.

anyway for laughs head here! tis mighty funny. thank you mc :)

lor had to walk in the rain all the way to Two Penn Plaza @ Amtrak Rotunda New York, NY 10001 US (i made him carry the address with him the whole time) to get them, and the 2 big boxes nearly gave him DVT by cramping up his leg room on the 24 hour plane ride back. thanks baby! :) so all those who sampled some...could you taste the lurrrrveee!! haha too late to spit it out now.

i've received feedback from well-meaning detractors that nowadays more than ever, i look like a blimp. so today in a smartass attempt to rid the fats around my belly and thighs, i was inspired to run. didn't wake up from my noon nap in time to follow my parents to the gym so i had to run around my estate. initially i thought the weather was perfect and a breeze was a-blowing, but it proved to be a really bad move because not only was the wind blowing against me, it also blew sand from several construction sites into my gaping mouth. my pace was so slow it would make a snail laugh, and i really thought i was going into cardiac arrest when i tried to run up some slope. am in horrible, horrible shape.

on a separate note, lor will be back from NY in 8 hours! yay yay!

so on saturday we threw a surprise 21st bday thing for our dear friend ruxin. the one who calls me an acquired taste and jayne several other frightful names i shan't mention here. there were moments of suspense: when we saw the birthday girl really close by and we ran to hide behind this big poster outside republic polytechnic that was only long enough to cover us from the legs up. so if ru had been sharper she'd be able to see 3 legs quaking from the fear of being discovered. and when she called home to talk to her mom and her mom couldn't keep up the act haha. then there were moments of comedy, and moments of romance. haha well not really larh, i'm just taking a stab at sounding dramatic. all in all it was great fun.

me and jayne made this! not fantastically nice but hey, we were working against time haha.

and i played the birthday song. terribly i might add.

then the birthday girl arrived

we bought her this esprit watch with hearts! HEARTS! we paid $175 for HEARTS!
on closer inspection...
there! the very essence of fugliness!

hahaha i kid of course, it could actually look quite nice.

we live and we learn.
this year i don't know why but pre-exam stress has been building up to catastrophic levels. i don't know if it's the increased workload or pressure from trying to keep up with the rest of my peers, but it really isn't doing me any good, or the people around me who have to deal with my panic attacks. sorry meifang! i think i really freaked you out :(
i need redemption quick. and sadly i think it comes only from consistency, something that i sorely lack.

this is long overdue but about 2 weeks ago i got meself a dog!

this is ruffy!

isn't he the cutest poppet ever! he's melted all our hearts. and you really have to hand it to dogs, they've the innate ability of reducing grown men eg. my dad to lumbering softies. it's true i've never heard my dad coo in unintelligible baby-talk until now. and after my family got him there was this really warm and fuzzy atmosphere at home, somehow we had more meals together and everyone would be laughing and stuff. too bad that's sorta wearing off now haha it's too good to last.
everyone should get a dog! the world would be a better place.

and here's ruffy again being a real furball

i think he's actually trying to lick himself down there but i can't be sure.

jayne: i look forward to cging with you too larh, though i hardly like to admit it. haha! it's amazing how we always have something to talk, laugh, or bitch about, how you do the most incredibly silly things, how you seem to understand me so well, and how you've one of the best shoulders to cry on. you're a gem and the perfect girlfriend and i love you!

sam yang: you've been a disgusting muggertoad since the start of m2!!!! but for all the laughs you've brought us, for calling me up so frequently to check on me, esp during the exam period, i forgive you! i'll miss you when m3 starts.

med girls (ru, natlee, el, sw, meifang, natw, jen, mich, jenh - oops sorry wrong category haha): you've all been so wonderful, in each of your own ways. thank you for being the perfect galpals :)

and to all the other med people i've gotten to know so much better this year, you know who you are, you have my love too. you guys make me look forward to school.

my sflc girls: i miss you all so much. ange, hear my plaintive but useless cry: DON'T GO TO NOTT'S!! STAY HERE IN SG!!! please let's meet up more this year.

seow: i'm so glad we've remained as close as before :) thanks for being such a sweetheart and you know i'm here for you, for always.

jac: you're so special to me! you're the perfect shopping partner and i always look forward to our dates out even tho i cancel on you sometimes haha. it amazes me how we can spend ages apart but we never run out of stuff to say when we're tog. and i know i can always count on you whereever, whenever. love you so much.
