of late i've been in a state of reminisce, revisiting a shrine of hallowed memories stuck somewhere at the back of my mind.
the nus acapella resonance performance at esplanade last wed, sitting there mesmerized by the perfect blend of voices, so sleek, so effortless. and i remembered how we used to do this, of practices in sheryl's room early morning, late at night. of struggling to memorise scores till we finally nailed them to the very last note. and that feeling of conviction, of knowing that we'd pulled the song off seamlessly, that we sounded perfect. we just knew. then we'd record ourselves, play it, then clap ourselves on the back and say clueless stuff like 'wahlau we sound damn good!!!' all the time grinning like doofuses. we didn't let disgusting performances get us down (ie.the one at arena country club hurhur) and upset our grandiose plans of rocking the sg acapella scene and eventual world domination.
omg we were SO DAMN CUTE.
but in the way that all good things must end, ours came to a crashing halt in habz' house with the realisation that we'd lost that same passion and chemistry we had 2 years ago, the awful revelation that gasp! we really weren't all that good after all, and even worse, we didn't want this all that much anymore. typical example of how hazardous busy schedules and procrastination can be. and in a few words and phonecalls suddenly it was all over.
more often than not, i miss us terribly.
sonicfest on fri, high octane live christian rock at fortcanning. standing still with my arms folded while all around me secondary school kids are jumping and singing for all their worth for the glory of God, never tiring.
i remember that.
seeing two girls walk around, arms linked, after the concert, singing, attracting attention, knowing it and lapping it up in typical teenybopper fashion.
jac remembers that.
watching sonicflood and recalling all the large scale christian events i've been to. queuing endlessly with del and ange for festival of praise at SIS, all those bk dinners we tookaway. faithfully tracking down hillsongs performances and finding people to go with me. looking forward to worship and feeling like i struck 4D when the band performs my favourites. being on an indescribable spiritual high in the days that followed.
but last friday, it warmed my heart with relief to know that i still see God smiling down at me when i raise my voice and eyes to the velvety star studded heavens. yes, i do.
Remember Harbor Boulevard
The dreaming days where the mess was made
Look how all the kids have grown, oh
We have changed but we're still the same
After all that we've been through
I know we're cool
I know we're coolif i were a singer and i had to do a collaboration with anyone, GWEN STEFANI i pick you!!!
what an utterly useless piece of trivia.
