Tuesday, June 28, 2005 i'm beginning to think i'm the last resort on everyone's who-to-date-out list. the incriminating evidence: sarah: eh! go dinner at holland v! me: haha cannot lah i'm going out later...try calling other people in the area? sarah: i've tried everyone else already larh, all not free... me: wow! how come you thought of going out with me on your off day? zhiming: ooh...well i was kinda desperate... there you go. my friends! with friends like these who needs enemies! haha joking larh, as usual i always aim to please. sigh. that aside, i am angry. with the shit i had to deal with yesterday. i'm not going to say anything unkind or hurtful, but i've had enough. it's unfair that people should have to put up with this kind of mindless childishness and arrogance and smile and say it's okay because the person is 'like that'. i'm not going to bend over backwards to accomodate this because i don't think i can stand it for much longer, and any more of this is only serving to make me an angrier, uglier person. call me a bitch but until you do something about your attitude, i am getting the f out of your face. you asked me to anyway. on a much happier note, i found my perfect black bag at agnes b today! SIBEI CHIO. but money no enough. please please please christmas come early this year! or someone land me a job. char 6/28/2005 10:33:00 PM
Thursday, June 23, 2005 comfort food and the lighthouse family my balm for heartaches. When all the hope has gone And everything you love has gone away Whatever Gets You Through The Day the stupid tibs bus drivers don't like me. i swear it's their company policy to make me hideously late for every single meeting appointment date. it's their fault i tell you!!!!! not mine!!!!! yup. now that we've got that straight, today's meetup was quite the sobering affair, discussing life changing events that seem to be coming from all corners at breakneck speeds. it's strange when i detach myself and listen to us gab on and on, we're really barely on the brink of adulthood and we're still so young but we think so far ahead. and we contemplate and we fret and we worry ourselves silly. but at what cost. i say let go and let God, even though it's almost always easier said than done. (and van, i can account for number six! i couldn't key in *** * ***** fast enough.) char 6/23/2005 11:47:00 PM
Sunday, June 19, 2005 hello lor i'm proud of you :) char 6/19/2005 11:22:00 PM
Saturday, June 18, 2005 on my 20th birthday i sat the reverse bungee and i stood on a chair at fish&co glasshouse while people sang the birthday song to me. and waddaya know, this year my birthday is really turning out to be one of the best, if not the best, i've ever had... i'm really happy :) even though i've always thought that when i get to being 20 i'd be in the middle of nowhere; i'm not a teenager anymore and i definitely can't say i'm an adult (how do you explain my mad love affairs with happy meals and heffalumps). but hitting the big two-oh has given me some food for thought. maybe it's like a pit stop, meant for me to take stock of God's provision these past blessed 19years of being a kid. and to brace myself for adulthood and its challenges. this year people have asked me, so do you feel old? how does that feel like? and thinking of that makes me scared cuz now saying i'm 20 naturally implies that i'm an old fogey and i gotta brush up on my act and be all mature and shit. but i guess that being said, age is only a number. like lor's supposed to be 20 going on to 21 but we suspect he's really actually 16. and it's not like we care! umm, well not that much. haha. so what i'm trying to say is that i'm not going to be encumbered or jaded by the limits and responsibilities that the ripe old age of 20 brings, my child-like faith and heart are here to stay. i'm infinitely touched by my med clique...jayne i love you!!! and all the rest of you who made it a point to come esp qy who stays in pasir ris and jenh who's always busy giving tuition and lenith who, well honestly i don't know what he gets up to besides comp games, and everyone else who mean just as much...i love yall too. photos soon! and ange? WHY do you always think i have nothing better to do!!!! even on my BIRTHDAY!! wah that's below the belt larh really haha but nvm. being the ever obliging friend i am i will indulge you. humpf. Childhood Meme yes and when you find out what's a meme you can tell me too. Name 5 Things You Miss About Your Childhood 1. Mcdonald's playgrounds the two that i frequented most were the ones at serene centre and KAP. teeming with unbridled kiddy joy and laced with a faint scent of pee - the ball room always felt a little squishy - it was like my garden of eden, what with that big smiling tree bearing painted apples in the make of a slide, and ronald as my curly red haired Adam decked in red boots and a yellow coveralls. how uber chic. and there were carousels where we young uns sat on fry kids and hamburgers and we spun around and around like there was no tomorrow. i think i still have photos somewhere. and following that my mom would buy me a mac's chocolate milkshake. they don't have that anymore :( and i'd sip my milkshake and count the number of times the mechanical toy train passed me by as it chugged and chugged and choo-chooed on its beaten track around the KAP restaurant. 2. strawberry shortcake, rainbow brite, my little pony, carebears, etc. this could go on forever larh. all the cartoon characters of yore. i adored them, i worshipped them, i was a sucker for their merchandise. i had two strawberry shortcake dolls and a miniature doll tricycle! i had countless little ponies, my favourite care bears were and still are wish bear and funshine...i think rainbow brite had to be the most kitschy and 80's but i had to love that too. i tuned in to the cartoons SBC (that's Singapore Broadcasting Corp.) screened every afternoon, fixated by colourful bears with painted tummies and ponies with wings and tattoos on their butts and singing along to the songs for all i was worth. ![]() 3. family holidays then my idea of a perfect holiday wasn't marked by the number of bargains and lobangs that i found at our holiday destination. shopping was the last thing on my mind when i was overseas. what i cared for most were disneyland, knotts berry farm, movie world, dream world, and all the other worlds that existed. i hugged and shook hands and took photos with bugs bunny, minnie mouse, snoopy. no matter they were just sweaty people dressed in furry suits armed with hand held fans to beat the heat, i asked them for their autographs and treated each one like a treasure. the other thing i relished was my parents' and brother's company...i never got pissed with any of them and any slight disagreement between us would be like water off a duck's back. i never stayed angry. just give me food and a warm bed at night and i'd be sold. now i'm not so sure anymore. i'm not even very keen on family holidays. i mope and bitch when i don't get to go on holiday with my friends. so slap me for being such a spoilt brat but i kinda take all these for granted now. wish i wouldn't though :( argh. 4.kiddy books i loved those so so so much. i had bookcases full of fairy tales, disney books, sesame street books, ladybird books, enidblytons. chock-a-block with beautiful whimsical illustrations, meaningful stories that always had morals. when i couldn't read on my own yet i would snuggle up to my mommy as she read to me. and when i learnt how to read i'd read to my brother timothy as he nestled with me in our beds. i even stuffed a whole lot of bulky books under my pillow so they'd always be within reach and i could have my own miniature library right under me. until my mom discovered them and made me put all of them back on the shelf. 5. crystal clear, flawless, SKII-endorsement-worthy skin. what Oxy? what AHA? in those days the only AHA around was that band who sang Take On Me. bring me back my smooth-as-a-baby's-bum skin :( The rules: Remove the #1 item from the following list, bump everyone up one place and add your blog's name in the #5 spot, like so: Bohemia Bunny i have succumbed to peer pressure. we're all masochists everybodyworshipsprincessange (not me and mel anyway ha! - this is not part of her blog name) party up Then pass the meme on... and so i pass this on to delphia and jac! this was actually quite fun heh. char 6/18/2005 10:45:00 AM
Thursday, June 16, 2005 so tick off one of the items on my must-do-before-i-die list reverse bungee! there's the ominous sign in the carpark that's me weeping and in hysterics seconds before blast off although you can't really tell, strapped immobile and helpless in the seat. footage from the video! being propelled upwards at 200km/h yo! and after the thrills, the view of clarke quay and the singapore river right at the top was magical to behold :) and when we touched down someone asked me if i were ready to dump lor yet. hmm not today i think! cuz i really had a blast on my birthday! it was a mind blowing experience! like a sudden windfall! all bad puns intended. thanks van for the last one. so thank you lorry for celebrating it with me! this was really one of the best birthdays ever! despite the numerous flops and uncovered surprises haha, i will always remember my 20th :) so to thank you, guess what we're doing on YOUR 21st! it's the BIG S! that's the next item on my to do before i die list anyway. just joking. got you there though didn't i hurhurhur. anyway bad jokes aside (people PLEASE don't take me seriously) i loved my bday cake! haha my mommy made it :) so happy. and my brothers are the sweeetest creatures on the face of this planet. and to all my friends near and far who wished me happy birthday and made me feel so loved and special. you guys are the best. i mean it! i love all of you. and special mention of jac, who managed to beat the crowd and wish me ahead of everyone else on 15th may exactly one month in advance!!!!! lesson learnt here, the early bird catches the worm doesn't always work in every situation okay. hahah. in my 20th year i resolve to be an A+++ student, a better christian, and an excellent friend. i will wipe that aloof dao bitch look that people so say i have (WHERE GOT!) off my face and rather i'll grin maniacally at everything in sight. in addition, i vow to hug stray mangy black cats on the street and give them homes and will refrain from stepping on grass cuz grass have feelings too y'know. also, i will talk less cock. i will wear shorter skirts. haha. joke! i will bitch less and love more. and i will pass my driving. on the first time too. char 6/16/2005 12:08:00 PM
Sunday, June 12, 2005 back from china! and blooody heck here's what i've missed! 1. topshop sale 2. all the other sales the next is tear jerkingly heart achingly tragic 3. why oh why oh why :( 4. the earthshaking official announcement that DELPHIA LIM HUIMIN HAS GOTTEN ONTO DEAN'S LIST!!!! and ANGELENE TWEETY TEO YUMEI IS THE TOP STUDENT FOR CRIMINAL LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously WASSSSSUPPP MAN. haha but erh well done friends. i mean it from the bottom of my heart hahaha. please remember me when you guys become hotshot lawyers and i'm still struggling to graduate with a barely-there MBBS degree. sigh. 5. and to my boyfriend in chicago: if you read this, i've misssed you most of all. the china trip (3rd to 9th june) left me with a better impression of prcs than before, even though it's true they do spit all over the place and the girls don't shave their underarm hair. but their grit and determination and gungho spirit is really something to be admired. and they are so incredibly talented! handicrafts, acrobatics, even driving in china is a talent.omigosh i could never drive in china! or cross the road for that matter i'd be instant roadkill. at some point of time during the trip i suddenly felt proud to be chinese. wow. haha my chinese still sucks like a vacuum though humpf. i can't bargain for shit and each trying session ends with me saying mei guan xi then walking away dejectedly with the shopkeeper scratching his head trying to decipher what alien language i just spouted out. next time i go to shang i'm going with shu who somehow manages to pass off as a prc. and i can't!??! haha more on china next time. char 6/12/2005 12:03:00 AM
