now this is wholesome family fun:
The Charmaine Club
there's a Charmaine song! some weird ditty from 1926 composed by Erno Rapee and Lew Pollack (huh) but that's good enough for me :)

i can't forget the night we met
how bright were skies above
that precious mem'ry lingers yet
when you declared your love

and then you went away
and now each night and day

i wonder why you keep me waiting
Charmaine, my Charmaine
i wonder when blue birds are mating,
will you come back again

i wonder if i keep on praying
will our dreams be the same
i wonder if you ever think of me, too
i am waiting, my Charmaine, for you

everyone needs an ego boost once in a while eh

in the unmade light i can see the world
as the leaves brighten i see the air
the shadows melt and the apricots appear
now that the branches vanish i see the apricots
from a thousand trees ripening in the air
they are ripening in the sun along the west wall
apricots beyond number are ripening in the daylight

whatever was there
i never saw those apricots swaying in the light
i might have stood in orchards forever
without beholding the day in the apricots
or knowing the ripeness of the lucid air
or touching the apricots in your skin
or tasting in your mouth the sun in the apricots

west wall / the rain in the trees

i'll remember you/tanya chua

Sorry wasn't good enough
A song without meter and rhyme
A long forgotten promise I recalled I made to you
A candle flame dies in the wind
It looks like it's about to rain, about to rain

Spirals from your cigarette
Your sweet colgone on my pillow
Messages you left me still sing like some lullaby
Pretty pictures on the wall
Hopes in us will rise & fall, rise & fall

And in the rain, in summer days too
When the willow tree weeps too
Under street light so bright
I'll remember you everyday

The plane leaves in an hour's time
Hold me till our last goodbye
Silence is the only sound
No words can speak it through
I'll breathe your breath for one last time
You'll be strong and so will I, so will I

And in the rain
In summer days too
When the willow tree weeps too
Under street lights so bright
I'll remember you
I'll remember you
I'll remember you
Everyday

love of a lifetime/firehouse

I guess the time was right for us to say
We'd take our time and live our lives
Together day by day
We'll make a wish and send it on a prayer
We know our dreams can all come true
With love that we can share

With you I never wonder--will you be there for me
With you I never wonder--you're the right one for me
I finally found the love of a lifetime
A love to last my whole life through
I finally found the love of a lifetime
Forever in my heart
I finally found the love of a lifetime

With every kiss, our love is like brand-new
And every star up in the sky
Was made for me and you
Still we both know that the road is long
We know that we will be together
Because our love is strong

I finally found the love of a lifetime
A love to last my whole life through
I finally found the love of a lifetime
Forever in my heart
I finally found the love of a lifetime

Catholic school girls rule...

In the class she's taking notes
Just how deep deep is my throat
Mother Mary don't you know
She's got eyes like Marylin Monroe

Catholic school girls rule...

From the cross she's raised her head
This is what the sister said
Give no love until you're wed
Live no life until you're dead

The good books says we must suppress
The good books says we must confess
But who cares what the good books says
Cause now she's taking off her dress

Catholic school girls rule...

Lead us into temptation
We are pure divine creation
Talkin' about my generation
Injected with the seed of emaculation
Catholic

-red hot chilli peppers-

hmm.

encounter camp was over the weekend, and this one was definitely one of the best church camps i've been to. as usual i'm always lagging behind so i missed the one in june. the one which had less pri6/sec1 and 2 kiddos. so yup had to go to camp with a multitude of young uns to my initial disappointment. thankfully yunde and mabel were there to cushion the embarrassment. sigh...but pastor yo kept reminding yunde and i that it was our encounter with God and no other...and it's very true i gues though i'd have preferred if i didn't have to sleep with gawky sec 1s who were inseperable from their transistor radios and handphones. "mummy"s constantly smsed them to ask "darling what time can i come and fetch you".bleurgh. haha but yeah i guess once again God's placing me out of my comfort zone like He did for camp phileo. so met up with yunde to go together and she overslept! leaving me stranded at commonwealth with my large rip curl bag and this huge paper bag with 2 jackets one for me one for mabel and a sleeping bag for mabel. finally we found our way to the GB headquarters where we checked in and rested at the canteen. as the canteen filled up with children i could only shake my head in resignation. but well thankfully my group consisted of sec3s...who were all quite nice. timid but harmless..and it was really touching the way they could connect with God so easily. We had our 1st session that night.....played icebreakers and watched a video to get us in the mood.Later some of us had to transit to the BB headquarters to spend the night. BB headquarters. synonymous with creaky bunk beds, too-small-bedsheets, furry friends like bats and moths and lizards. and i had to complete the icing on the cake by sleeping in the top bunk closest to the aircon and a mysterious hole in the wall.barely slept that night so fell asleep next morning during the 2nd and 3rd sessions..then that afternoon we had games. Think the night activity was the most meaningful and poignant part of the camp....we were blindfolded and led around the compound....and finally left in the carpark. Mabel told me to sit on the ground. After 15 min or so Sally took to the mike....and told all of us to kneel on the ground, and it hurt as hell. The rough asphalt made indents on my knees and palms and the pain was excruciating. After some guys reenacted sounds of the crucifixion, that sounded more like a beng gangfight, Sally started saying, think of the pain now. If you think what you're going through is painful, think of the pain Jesus had to endure for you. and then she started singing Above All like 6 times over i could have fainted there and then. ahha then later i heard that some kids had taken out sheets of paper to kneel on them..there were some who had to wear bricks around their necks cuz they talked while they were blindfolded..ouch. But it struck me....that yes all the pain that Jesus had to go through...imagine being nailed to the cross alive and breathing for 6 hours..and that 15 min on the road was already too much for me to take. What more the pain he endured. for us all.
After we removed our blindfolds...we burnt sheets of paper that we scribbled our sins and generational curses on. Then sang songs of victory...and i never felt such liberation. like i knew that my sins were really truly cleansed and i could be upright in the Lord...

i need God.

think i just wanted to post something in retrospect.
went clubbing on saturday at milk bar. and it scared/thrilled me. and i think. i want to go again.

:(

owell let's think happy thoughts.....went back to mg for the annual minifair today with jac and grace...it was so crowded. saw many familiar faces...juniors i haven't seen in a very long time. and they were still very friendly so that was gratifying :) the food was good...the atmosphere was great...haha but i felt horribly conspicuous. imagine one little brown shit among an expanse of -glorious- blue and white.and maybe not-so-little since there were so many pri sch kiddos scurrying around...was utterly relieved when del and shuhui and kangqi came by...walked around with del. she did her henna (which was very pretty, done in 30 secs flat) and i rummaged through all the junk on display (there was a stall selling daily bread!!!!) and managed to find nice stuf. heh. then went back to school for a comm meeting....had chem lect...and then choir again. nat's burfday is tomorrowhappy birthday nat so after choir we went to nydc at wheelock where dearest nat treated us to pizza and baked rice and yummyyum oreo cheesecake...and in return we sang her happy birthday. ok actually just me and delphia whilst trying to control her bouts of laughter cuz mel and ange were far too embarassed to be associated with us. nat too for that matter.

ps.
oh and one more happy thought!
i discovered hershey's heath chocolate bar today...was in the halloween goody bag my neighbour gave me...
pps.
ohoh one more!! my mum and dad will be outta s'pore over the weekend...muahahha you know what this means.
